Understanding Therapy

Why Choose a Marriage & Family Therapist?

We often encounter problems in daily living that are overwhelming and painful, leaving us unable to understand what is happening and how to cope. Often these problems lead to anxiety and depression – we need someone to help sort out the pieces of the puzzle.

Jane understands and cares about what you are going through.  She recognizes that the source of your difficulty lies not only within yourself, but also within relationships between God, family, and friends.

What is Marriage and Family Therapy?

Marriage and Family Therapy is a “family systems” approach.  It expands the practice of traditional psychotherapy to include the individual within his or her environment.

We are all affected by others, and a Marriage and Family Therapist works with problems withing the context of family culture, and society.

Those in therapy learn to deal not only with their individual distress, but also how relationships with God, spouse, family and friends are interrelated to the problem.

Philosophy & Goal

“But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob…. ”
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you… when you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you.  For I am the Lord your God…” Is. 43: 1, 2

It is God who is the loving “creator and redeemer” of this world as expressed through His Word, the Bible, and His Son, Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. He is intimately acquainted with you and has your best in mind.

He cares about your troubles and hears your cry.  What you are experiencing is real and very painful; yet, in the midst of it, God has plans to lovingly bring you to a place of right living, peace and joy.  He has not forgotten you!
